MEET THE FOUNDER
Rae Buchanan
Founder · Therapist · Performer · Creative Human
Hi, I'm Rae! Licensed Clinical Professional Counsellor*, performer, creative being, and the founder of Curious Things.
I've always been fascinated by people.
Not just by what happened to them, but by the stories they tell themselves because of it. The identities they built to survive. The ways creativity, relationships, grief, joy, and curiosity all become intertwined in who we are.
Before I became a therapist, I spent years in the performing arts. That experience taught me something I still carry into every session today: every person is far more layered than the role they're expected to play.
That belief became the foundation of Curious Things.
I wanted to create a therapy practice that felt less clinical and more human. A place where complexity isn't something to fix, but something we're allowed to explore. Where queer identities, neurodivergence, creativity, big feelings, uncertainty, and growth all have room to exist together.
Whether you're untangling trauma, navigating relationships, questioning your identity, or simply trying to understand yourself a little better, I'm glad you're here.

A Note From Rae
I value curiosity, empathy, & creativity our work together. With an integrated model, I use somatic, Brainspotting, feminist, IFS, PACT, & creative interventions.
(Ah! Rae, why all the therapy words?! Don’t worry, it just means we explore thoughts & emotions through the body & mind. Sometimes moving, drawing, talking, or considering social/political factors)
Ready to explore the deep components of who you are?
Grab your emotional water bottle and come have a seat on my couch (or the floor, you do you).
I see a variety of clients in Maryland and DC, and cannot wait to learn more about who you are.
