Who We Are

Curious Things has a cozy therapy office with dark green walls, vintage furniture, and natural light coming through a large window. The room features a patterned area rug, plants, and various decorative items.

Curious Things is a therapy practice for the misfits, the makers, and the people who’ve always felt a little too much or not enough. It’s for the ones who crave both safety and self-expression.

Here, therapy isn’t sterile or one-size-fits-all. It’s curious, creative, affirming, and built around the idea that you don’t need to be fixed, you need to be explored.

Meet the founder

Founder · Therapist · Performer · Creative Human

Baltimore therapist affirming and supporting neurodivergent clients with ADHD, autism, and AuDHD.
Rae Slaugh, licensed Baltimore therapist and founder of Curious Things, offering inclusive and creative therapy.

Hi, I’m Rae! Owner and founder of Curious Things.

I’m a queer, neurodivergent therapist with a background in both mental health care and the performing arts. Before I became a therapist, I lived a lot of lives: actor, clown, professor, strawberry picker, teaching artist — you name it. All of those experiences taught me how deeply creativity, resilience, and play connect to healing.

In the therapy room, I bring curiosity, empathy, and creativity into every session. My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are: the messy parts, the brilliant parts, the parts still unfolding.

Combining traditional therapy with expressive arts and community healing in Baltimore.

I work with:

  • LGBTQIA+ and gender expansive individuals

  • Neurodivergent folks (especially ADHD, Autism, AuDHD)

  • Mixed-neurotype couples & relationships (poly/ENM, chosen family, adult siblings)

  • People navigating trauma, identity shifts, and career overwhelm

  • Creatives, performers, and “intellectualizers” who want to feel, not just think

Rae Buchanan is a an LCPC counselor in the state of Maryland. In DC, she is an LGPC counselor under the clinical supervision of Dr. Tiffany Wicks,  Ed.D., MS, LPC, LCPC, of Wicks Psychotherapy.

Our Beliefs

Inclusive mental health and wellness collective in Baltimore, blending talk therapy, creativity, and community.

Therapy should feel like sitting with someone who’s genuinely curious about you — not like a cold, clinical checklist. We use an integrated approach that blends traditional talk therapy with Brainspotting, creative expression, and community-informed care.

A Note From Rae

I value curiosity, empathy, & creativity our work together. With an integrated model, I use somatic, Brainspotting, feminist, IFS, PACT, & creative interventions.

(
Ah! Rae, why all the therapy words?! Don’t worry, it just means we explore thoughts & emotions through the body & mind. Sometimes moving, drawing, talking, or considering social/political factors)
